Built for the covered entry

A typical Highlands Ranch house has its front door tucked under a roofed entry, sometimes with two columns, sometimes with a deep recess beside the garage. That roof is a gift for pumpkins. Fruit in the shade lasts longer than fruit sitting on a sunny walk, and the columns or the corners of the recess give us something to build against. We put the tallest group at the column on the street side, run a lower line along the edge of the entry, and leave the door and the walk clear. From the curb the eye goes to the door, which is where you want it. On an entry with no columns we make our own height instead, with a hay bale at one side of the door and the jumbo fruit stacked beside it, so the group still has a tall point and a low point rather than one flat row along the step.

The walk, the lawn edge and the HOA

Front walks here tend to be short and straight, with turf or rock landscaping on both sides. We keep everything on hard surfaces: the entry slab, the steps and the walk itself, never on the lawn where it would kill a patch of grass or get in the way of the sprinklers. The whole display sits free, with nothing staked into the ground and nothing fixed to the house, and it is temporary seasonal decor. If your street sits under a sub-association with its own rules on decorations, you know them better than we do, so mention anything that matters when you book and we will design around it.

Sun, wind and the south metro

Highlands Ranch sits higher than central Denver and the afternoon sun on a west facing entry is strong through September. Pumpkins soften fastest when they bake on concrete, so on a sunny entry we set the large fruit back under the roof line and bring hay bales forward to take the glare. Wind comes through in gusts along the open ridges, and a stack that looks fine on a calm morning can go over by evening. We seat every piece on a flat base and keep stacks low on exposed corners. If weather does knock something out of place, tell us and we will come back and re-stage it.

Booking and delivery in Highlands Ranch

Our season opens in mid August and the last delivery week ends on 31 October. Highlands Ranch is in our Denver metro zone, so the package price plus a $100 delivery charge covers the pumpkins, the design and the setup. You choose a delivery week at checkout, and you do not need to be home: we text you a photo when the entry is done. Cancellations close seven days before your delivery week begins, and our terms explain the refund exceptions. If you have a gate code or a side entrance, add it to the notes.

Do I need HOA approval for a porch pumpkin display?

We cannot speak for every sub-association, but what we build is temporary seasonal decor that sits free on your entry and walk, with nothing attached to the house or staked into the lawn. If your street has a rule you want us to follow, put it in the booking notes.

My entry faces west. Will the pumpkins cook?

They last noticeably longer in shade, so on a west facing entry we keep the big fruit under the roof line and use hay bales at the sunny edge. Expect the smaller pumpkins nearest the walk to soften first.

Which package fits a two column entry?

Enchantment, at 30 to 35 pumpkins plus two hay bales, fills both columns and the steps on most Highlands Ranch entries. Charm suits a single door with no columns, and Fairy Tale is for a wide entry or one with a long run of steps.
